It is taking control of all the actions we perform in the virtual world in a harrowing attempt to capture data blocks. This proves frustrating, drifting into a series of errors as a consequence. First the excitement, then the emptiness in a vicious cycle. “Ctrl+Freaq” is a reinterpretation of Richard Serra’s 1968 “Hand Catching Lead” movie.
The Artist
Media artist and digital art curator who lives and works in Curitiba, Brazil. Flávio Carvalho studied specialization in Interdisciplinary Arts and Art Teaching at Paraná State University UNESPAR in 2012. Since then, he has exhibited collectively in Berlin, Paris, New York, Madrid, Toronto, Curitiba, among other cities. In 2017/18 he was the curator of the exhibition Subli_me of The Wrong - New Digital Art Biennale in Curitiba. In 2018, he joined the curatorship of the Curitiba International Biennial, winning the Young Curators Award. He is currently the embassy leader of The Wrong - New Digital Art Biennale in Curitiba and guest curator of the Curitiba International Art Biennial.
